What Even Makes A Good Blogpost Anyway?

This is a question that I have found myself asking for a little while now. It all started when I found this site called bearblog.dev. The site is essentially a lightweight blogging site. In its own words, it’s a:

“A privacy-first, no-nonsense, super-fast blogging platform.”

After looking through all of the trending and recent posts, I started to notice a certain writing style between all of them. They all seemed to be very personal. Kind of like the writer is sitting in front of you and telling you how his day went. I don’t know why, but it just felt so refreshing. Reading those posts felt like a brand-new experience, something that I just haven’t experienced from reading things from the internet before.

After reading all of these amazing posts, it really made me reflect on what I was writing. So far, I have just been writing what are essentially analytical essays. I think the reason for that is that it’s all I have ever really written before. Between writing them for a school assignment and writing them to try and convince my parents about something, I don’t really experiment with (or think about) any other writing forms.

So, after doing some thinking, I have decided to make a new section on my website called Writings. I have moved everything that was originally in this Blog section into the new Writings section to leave room for a new type of content. While I still enjoy writing analytical essays (which will now be in the Writings section), I just also want to have a place where I can just write whatever is on my mind and not have to worry about trying to convey a deeper meaning or making sure I hit my target word count. So, that’s what the new Blog section will contain.

(Side note: If you have time, I will highly recommend checking out bearblog.dev. I absolutely love reading everyone’s posts and just exploring around. It is truly one of the most fun things I have found on the internet in a while.)
